2008 Press Release

D.C. United Launches Blog, Designed and Developed by NavigationArts

MCLEAN, VIRGINIA, March 28, 2008 – D.C. United announced today the club has launched a brand new website, BehindTheBadge, designed and developed by NavigationArts. Available in both English and Spanish, the site will serve as the official blog of all things D.C. United and provide behind-the-scenes access to the players, coaches, and front office of the Black-and-Red.

NavigationArts helped define the blog's concept and created the visual design. NavigationArts' development team helped select an appropriate blog tool and hosting service, and built the blog. The strategy behind the new site is that it will strengthen online communities around D.C. United's people, events, and content.

"At D.C. United, we pride ourselves on the connectivity between the team, front office and our supporters," said United Executive Vice President Stephen Zack. "BehindTheBadge.com is an initiative we’ve developed in order to bring the best fans in the League even closer to the club they support."

Recognizing the diversity of the fan base, and with the recent addition of several South American players, the site includes both an English side and a mirror site entirely in Spanish.

"We are committed to providing our varied fan base with access to all of our players," said United Vice President of Communications Doug Hicks. "Some of our players communicate primarily in Spanish and others primarily in English. We want to be able to provide access to them in both their native and secondary language."

BehindTheBadge.com takes the idea of a traditional blog and expands upon its offerings, with video content, numerous photos, merchandise offers and many other features that will be revealed in the coming weeks. The site will be the go-to spot for the club’s most ardent supporters, as well as the place for new fans to learn about the many unique individuals that make up United.
