2008 Press Release
NavigationArts Designs and Develops New Website for Wolf Trap
MCLEAN, VIRGINIA, February 28, 2008 – The Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts (www.wolftrap.org) recently launched a new website, designed and developed by NavigationArts, a leading internet consultancy specializing in user experience design. The new site will enable Wolf Trap to reach a broad, national audience, helping them achieve their primary mission: to present and create excellent and innovative performing arts programs for the enrichment, education, and enjoyment of diverse audiences and participants.
“With this website, we created a dynamic online experience to match Wolf Trap’s preeminent position in performing arts and arts-in-education,” said Leo Mullen, NavigationArts CEO. “It has been our pleasure to work with one of the nation’s top cultural institutions to create a site that will engage new audiences and generate enthusiasm around the arts.”
In this engagement, NavigationArts applied best practices in information architecture to restructure the site navigation for an improved user experience. Content is now organized around Wolf Trap’s Four Pillars (The Filene Center, The Barns, Opera, and Education) so that site visitors have an instant appreciation for Wolf Trap’s distinct programming areas. The user interface design incorporates photographs of Wolf Trap’s state of the art facilities and world class performances and further delineates the four areas of excellence. NavigationArts’ development team built the website in the Sitecore content management system and customized advanced calendar and search functionality to make it easy for site visitors to learn about upcoming events and classes, and purchase tickets.
The vastly improved user experience on Wolf Trap’s new site is critical to building a sense of community among their visitors, promoting the array of available performances and classes; and driving ticket sales, merchandise sales, class registrations, memberships, and donations. NavigationArts delivered a website that matches Wolf Trap’s reputation and is designed to generate more revenue – enabling Wolf Trap to do their best work.
