2007 Press Release
NavigationArts' Director of Development leads open source CMS session at Open Publish 2007
MCLEAN, VIRGINIA, March 10, 2007 — Expert opinions are valuable in the increasingly competitive and confusing world of open source content management systems (CMS). Recognizing a need for such opinions in the DC area, the organizers of Open Conferences this year brought to Baltimore Open Publish, the leading conference for practitioners in the fields of content management and electronic publishing. NavigationArts also recognized the need, sending one of its Managing Directors to present on open source CMS solutions.
As an experienced technologist familiar with open source CMS, NavigationArts Director of Development and Managing Director Scott Mendenhall yesterday lead an Open Publish 2007 session titled "Open source CMS, beyond Drupal and Joomla." Scott demonstrated that Drupal and Joomla, the most recognizable open source content management systems, are only two of many tools currently available. He also discussed criteria for selecting open source software, reviewed common CMS tools, and demonstrated CMS applications using two case studies. In keeping with NavigationArts' customer- and user-centered approach, Scott emphasized throughout the session the importance of facilitating the user experience.
