The NavigationArts Design Director is a leader and a strategic thinker who enjoys creating high-end, interactive design solutions for business benefit. This person is responsible for the voice and direction of design at NavigationArts, including the design resources and project delivery. This role is also expected to be a key leader in both the delivery and business development teams, providing their perspective, insights, opinion, inspiration and support throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

• Leading the delivery of user experience engagements, as required
• Monitoring and mentoring the development of the visual design staff
• Participating in business development including attending sales presentations and providing input into sales collateral
• Contributing as required to the development of proposals and statements of work for the visual design function
• Providing thought leadership in best practice solutions for business development and project delivery
• Guiding and improving the voice and quality of visual design at NavigationArts
• Advocating for visual design throughout the organization
• Keeping up to date with Internet best practices and the visual design field
• Developing knowledge repositories and forums to distribute visual design resources across the organization

The Design Director has an excellent professional background, strong interpersonal and presentation skills, and extensive experience working on consultative engagements. The Design Director is experienced in disciplines of user experience design and development.

Qualifications

• MFA, BA or BS degree
• Minimum of seven years of successful experience in the creative services industry
• Minimum of three years of successful experience in the web design and development
• Advanced knowledge of Internet and Web technologies and best practices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong presentation skills
• A passion for creating highly usable Web sites that optimize the user experience
